The project proposal Deliberative Democracy Space suggests to make use of institutional formats like exhibitions, makerspaces and parliaments in one over arching intersectional Zone.

Divided in three osmotic zones the space alines parliamentary assemblies / decission making, exhibition / communicate, and a design / planning / making environment.

Zone 1
assemblies / decission making:

Sourcing of the concept of deliberative democracy[1] we propose to invite citizens and non-state actors representatives from a diverse backgrounds as possible. Chosen by chance - Temporary Representatives will be invited to take part in discussion sessions and decission making processes - their specific and heterogenous knowledges will feed and diversify planning workshops. To keep the workshops productive they will be facilitated by mediators that aim at channeling and collectivizing appearing discourses.

These assemblies will take part in the parliamentary architecture of the spatial arrangement yet are open and permeable for the broader public aswell.

Zone 2
exhibit / communicate:

The results and processes feed back into a dynamic exhibiton concept that invides broader publics to join in to the decission processes. Each topical module will be up for discussions and open for contributions. The exhibition zone functions as a catalyst for democratic friction and antagonisms. Extensive interfaces will facilitate further adjustments of the content shown. 3D scans, projections and installations and classical spatial displays will be combined, rearranged and spread within and around the Deliberative Democracy Space.

Zone 3
design / modulate:

All suggestions, discussion and decissions being taken in the flowing parliament will be prototyped and tested in shape of visualisations and objects by a design team active in the maker space zone of the Space. This allows a more concrete exchange on given decissions and argumentations aswell as a broadening of perspectives. Especially the discussion within the temporary parliament will make use of the maker space in order to visualise and make concrete real world decission making processes.
